About Khamoshiyan (2015) Movie

Khamoshiyan is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language romantic thriller horror film directed by debutant Karan Darra. The movie, produced by Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt in association with Vishesh Films, stars Gurmeet Choudhary, Ali Fazal, and Sapna Pabbi in lead roles. Initially scheduled for release on 23 January 2015, it was later postponed to 30 January 2015. According to Box Office India, the film was declared “average.”

The plot revolves around Kabir Malhotra, a novelist seeking inspiration after a failed career and a broken relationship with Simran. His journey leads him to a guesthouse run by the enigmatic Meera Sharma Dhanrajgir. Meera is married to Jaidev Dhanrajgir, an ill man confined to his bed. On his first night at the guesthouse, Kabir witnesses strange apparitions and becomes drawn to Meera. He discovers that she hasn’t left the house for two years.

As Kabir falls in love with Meera, he tries to take her away from the house. However, an evil force intervenes, causing an accident. Curious, Kabir consults a Tantrik who reveals an evil spirit in the house—the spirit of Jaidev, who is supposedly dead. Realization dawns upon Kabir as he recalls Meera speaking on the phone in a man’s voice and never seeing Jaidev in person.

Meera confesses her past: she was involved in a hit-and-run case two years ago. To avoid imprisonment, she fled to a small town in Kashmir, where she met Jaidev, a rich industrialist. They fell in love and got married. One night, Meera witnessed Jaidev performing a ritual slaughter and praying to the devil. In a struggle, Jaidev fell from the balcony and was paralyzed below the waist.

He later committed suicide, leaving a letter for Meera. The letter instructed her to live in the house forever with his soul. If she ever tried to escape, the lawyer would reveal that Meera had killed him in the hit-and-run. Thus, she remains in the house, deluding the world into thinking her husband is still alive. 🌙👻📝
